Fans made the same joke about the Angels’ World Series guarantee candidate

Los Angeles Angels draft pick Christian Moore’s bold claim didn’t go over as well with fans on Sunday as he probably hoped.

The Angels selected the second baseman from Tennessee 8th in the 2024 MLB Draft.

After his name was called, Moore was asked during the interview what he wanted to show his new team. Moore ended his answer by guaranteeing that he would win a World Series ring.

“I’m a winner and a competitor,” Moore said. “I don’t know what’s going to happen in the next few years. But I promise you, I’m definitely going to get a ring. It’s in my blood.”

What was intended as a sign of confidence from a young talent became an opportunity for fans to make jokes online.

Several fans at X joked that Moore had indirectly declared his intention to leave the Angels because winning with the Anaheim team was almost impossible.

Some reminded Moore that the Angels were not even close to winning the World Series despite having both Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani on the roster.

But despite all the critics, Moore just sounded excited to join the Angels organization.

In his final season at Tennessee, Moore posted a .375 batting average with 34 home runs and 74 RBIs in 72 games played, helping the Volunteers to their first College World Series victory in school history.
