For those who don’t know, Invincible is a dark and violent superhero comic book series that follows the life of Mark Grayson, who tries to protect the Earth while living a normal life as the superhero “Invincible.” Omni-Man is an important character in the story as he is Mark Grayson’s father and, without giving too much away, is a dark deconstruction of DC Comics’ Superman.

The comic book series began in 2003 and ended in 2018. An animated series adaptation was released on Amazon Prime in 2021, and was praised by critics and fans for its well-animated action and captivating story that twisted the tropes of the superhero genre in unexpected ways.

The show features a large cast of famous voice actors and one of the most famous among them is JK Simmons as the voice of Omni-Man. JK Simmons is an Oscar-winning actor known for his roles as J. Jonah Jamieson in various Spiderman films, Tenzin in The Legend of Korra, Cave Johnson in Portal 2 and many others.

Windows Central’s opinion

When the previous game, Mortal Kombat 11, featured guest characters from other franchises, NetherRealm Studios made a great effort to retain the characters’ original voice actors whenever possible to preserve their authenticity while paying tribute to their fans. This included Keith David returning as Spawn, Peter Weller as Alex Murphy aka RoboCop, and Sylvester Stallone as John Rambo, among others.

Therefore, it’s nice to see NetherRealm Studios continuing this trend by bringing back JK Simmons as the voice of Omni-Man for Mortal Kombat 1, which is sure to please many Invincible fans. However, it has not yet been confirmed if Mortal Kombat 1’s other guest characters, Homelander and Peacemaker, will be brought back by their actors Antony Starr and John Cena, respectively, to voice their characters for this upcoming Xbox title.

We’ll have to wait until Mortal Kombat 1 releases on September 19, 2023 for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
