Taylor Swift inhales virus, has piano disorder and presents new clothes

Pest problems. Piano problems. Taylor Swift had to stop performing mid-song during her acoustic set on Saturday and Sunday (July 13-14) in Milan, Italy, due to some unexpected but hilarious incidents.

“I swallowed another one,” Swift dryly remarked to a loud, approving crowd in Milan on Saturday night, resigning herself to her fate when a bug flew into her mouth on stage for the surprise vocals at the San Siro stadium.

The pop icon – who has had a previous brush with the virus during her international tour, which has included many outdoor stadiums – was not surprised. “I knew it was going to happen because there’s so much virus here tonight,” she told the crowd, pausing for a moment and then explaining protocol: “I just have to cough a little bit.”

She sat at the piano and played a rather sad and angry Red-era mashup of “I Almost Do” and “The Moment I Knew” when the insect invader disrupted their art.

This mashup on the keys was followed on Saturday by “The 1″/“Wonderland” on the acoustic guitar. (“I’ve never done that before in the acoustic part,” Swift revealed about “The 1,” the opener of folklore. The song was previously on the main setlist of the Eras Tour, but lost its spot when Swift revamped the long-running show and incorporated selections from her latest album, the 31-track collection. The “Tortured Poets” sectionthe current number 1 on the Billboard 200 album charts.

On Sunday, Swift surprised everyone with an acoustic guitar, a mashup of “Mr. Perfectly Fine” and “Red,” and on Sunday night, she surprised everyone with a piano performance of “Getaway Car” and “Out of the Woods.” But she didn’t get very far with that when she realized that something was wrong with her piano.

“You know what, we finally broke it. We finally broke the thing,” Swift joked as someone from her tech team quickly helped fix the problem.

The star still had trouble closing the top, but was ecstatic when she finally managed it: “I did it!” she squealed, returning to the song with a grin: “No, nothing good starts in a getaway car.”

In planned surprises from Milan, which fans also discussed over the weekend, Swift debuted three Eras Tour costumes: new dresses for her Fearless And Tortured poets Epochs of the concert on Saturday and a new dress for the show Speak Now Moment on Sunday.

For Fearlessshe took the stage in a new shimmering black and gold number (pictured at the top of this article) that suited such a large sing-along portion of the show. The look is also reminiscent of the aesthetic of Swift’s CallFans noted that the design felt a bit like Gatsby while also reminding Swifties of this bodysuit from the Reputation Tour.

Swift’s new Tortured poets The costume, pictured below, features the same design as her previous one – but with new text on the skirt. Instead of lyrics from the album’s title track, the updated version of the white Vivienne Westwood dress features a lyric from Swift’s angry “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” “You should,” it reminds viewers.

And on Sunday, Swift sang “Enchanted,” the Speak Now Song that has a permanent place in the Eras set, in a new ball gown in a color that can best be described as Speak Now purple. Check out a fan’s collage of Swift’s sparkling Speak Now Clothing collection from The Eras Tour.
