Nature Rx: A Health and Wellness Walking Series with Land Bank

Join the San Juan County Conservation Land Bank every third Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m.July through September to spend time on Land Bank trails with local health professionals. This free event is a pilot program to promote health and well-being through physical activity, health education and social connection.

Time schedule:

  • July 18, 2024: Dr. Steven Hoang, DO, PeaceHealth | Zylstra Lake Conservation Area, San Juan Island
  • 15 August 2024: Mandy Gullah ND, LMT, Living Medical Arts | Mount Grant Preserve, San Juan Island
  • 19 September 2024: Andrea Jakus Wight, MPT, PeaceHealth | Redtail Trail in John O. Linde Community Park, San Juan Island

Highlights of the event:

  • Walks included: Enjoy easy to moderate walks of 1.5-5 km with frequent breaks and a slow to moderate pace to fully enjoy your surroundings.
  • Health discussions: Each event begins with a brief discussion on a relevant health topic by a local health care provider.
  • Social connection: Walk at your own pace and distance of choice while chatting to your island neighbors – you might even make a new friend or two!

  • What to bring: We recommend bringing a water bottle and all the necessary snacks for a pleasant walk.
  • Weather: In case of bad weather, the events will be cancelled. Registered participants will be notified by email.

The San Juan County Conservation Land Bank is funded by a 1% property tax paid by property purchasers at the time of contract. It acquires and preserves lands in the County that have ecological, agricultural, aesthetic, cultural, scientific, historical, scenic or low-intensity recreational value.
