Cup points standings after the Pocono race

play

Ryan Blaney’s win at Pocono will improve his playoff points, but the wildcard situation has changed somewhat due to Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race.

Blaney has now earned 12 playoff points through the first 21 races of the season, a solid number for the driver of the No. 12 Team Penske Ford as he pushes to defend his Cup Series title.

Wildcard contenders Ty Gibbs, Ross Chastain and Kyle Busch all had retirements on Sunday, affecting their points situation. Chastain, the last wildcard driver, is now in 16th place, 27 points ahead of Bubba Wallace. Busch is now 102 points behind Chastain and will almost certainly need a win in the next five races to make the playoffs.
