Manhattan detectives are questioning the son of a woman who fell down a cliff in Riverside Park and died on Sunday afternoon.
Authorities believe the victim, a 44-year-old woman, was pushed from the highest point near the intersection of Riverside Drive and West 165th Street at around 4:13 p.m. on July 14.
Officials of the 33rd District rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a serious attack.
Upon arrival, according to sources familiar with the investigation, witnesses told police that the victim’s 22-year-old son allegedly pushed the 44-year-old woman down the grass embankment. The motive is currently unknown.
According to police, the woman suffered serious injuries in the fall.
Emergency medical services took her to Harlem Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her identity has not yet been released.
Police officers took her son into custody at the scene for further questioning. Charges are pending pending the results of the ongoing investigation.
