Shannen Doherty is remembered by her “Beverly Hills, 90210” co-stars after her death.
“Shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of my friend Shannen,” Jason Priestley wrote on Instagram on Sunday, posting an old photo of himself and the late actress.
“She was a force of nature and I will miss her. I send love and light to her family during this dark time.”
Priestly, 54, played Brandon Walsh, the twin brother of Doherty’s Brenda Walsh, in the hit high school drama series.
“Shan. My sister… you loved me through everything,” Brian Austin Green, who played David Silver, wrote in his Instagram story.
“You were a huge part of my understanding of love. I will miss you more than I can handle right now. Thank you for the gift that you are💔 💔.”
Gabrielle Carteris, who played Andrea Zuckerman, posted a photo of heaven on her Instagram feed in memory of Doherty.
“So young – so sad. May you rest in peace Shannon,” she captioned the snap. “I know Luke is there with open arms to love you.”
Her co-star Luke Perry died unexpectedly of a stroke in 2019 at the age of 52.
Carol Potter, who played Doherty and Priestley’s mother in the series, shared a photo of the setting sun on her Instagram feed.
“Shocked and saddened by the news of Shannon Doherty’s passing. What a journey she has been on! Gone too soon,” she wrote.
“She stayed true to herself throughout and was an example of courage and perseverance in dealing with her own death. May she rest in peace.❤️🙏.”
Doherty died on Saturday after a years-long battle with breast cancer, which was first discovered in 2015.
After a remission in 2017, the cancer returned at stage 4 in 2019. In 2023, it metastasized to her brain and in November of that year to her bones.
Doherty has spoken openly about her years-long battle with cancer, even admitting in April that she would go through her belongings to make things easier for her mother if she were to die.
“Because it’s going to be so hard for her, I want other things to be a lot easier. I don’t want her to have to deal with a bunch of stuff. I don’t want her to have four storage rooms full of furniture,” she explained on her podcast “Let’s Be Clear.”
She also talked about why she believed she was fired from the hit series “Charmed” after the third season.
In their podcast in December 2023, she and her former co-star Holly Marie Combs claimed that their co-star Alyssa Milano threatened producers with an employer lawsuit if they did not kick her off the show.
While the duo agreed that there was tension between the leads, Combs, 50, claimed nothing ever happened that would have required a lawsuit.
“There are actually people who behave badly and get away with it,” she said. “I don’t think people understand that this has never happened here.”
Milano, 51, addressed the allegations in front of fans at MegaCon Orlando in February, saying the whole situation was “sad.”
Nevertheless, she was one of the first people to comment on Doherty’s death on Sunday and express her condolences to “all who loved her”.
“It’s no secret that Shannen and I had a complicated relationship, but at the core, this was someone I deeply respected and was in awe of,” she told Page Six.
“She was a talented actress, loved by many, and without her the world is less.”
