Even Taylor Sheridan will sign Glen Powell after hearing the only enlightened opinion of the Twisters star, which the “Yellowstone” boss has been proving for years

Even Taylor Sheridan will sign Glen Powell after hearing the only enlightened opinion of the Twisters star, which the “Yellowstone” boss has been proving for years

Taylor Sheridan had already proven his worth as a screenwriter and director when Glen Powell made his breakthrough as a leading actor. The success of his Oscar-nominated film Hell or high water and shows like Yellowstone and his spin-offs have shown the industry that he knows exactly what audiences like to see – a good story, even if it comes from a genre that is long considered dead.

The same goes for Glen Powell, who made his breakthrough with his role as the executioner in the film with Tom Cruise. Top Shooter: Maverick (2022). His performance in the film was loved by critics and fans alike, and he soon made waves on the big screen as the lead hero in films like Everyone but you, Hit Manand last Twisters.

Glen Powell and Taylor Sheridan have similar views on the industry

When Taylor Sheridan wrote Hell or high water (2016) and then came back with Yellowstone Two years later, the market for the Western genre was considered dead. Very few, if any, people were working on Westerns, but Sheridan was there to change the landscape. In between, he also made another film called Wind River 2017 a neo-western crime thriller starring Jeremy Renner.

All of his projects were successful, and commercial success followed critical acclaim, even though Westerns were supposed to be a thing of the past. YellowstoneSheridan once revealed that many networks rejected the idea, saying:Nobody makes westerns on television.’ But the creator knew what his project was and kept knocking on doors until he found a breakthrough. He said (via CBS News):

You see, when Hollywood says a genre is dead, it’s because they’ve made a lot of bad movies about it.

And it seems he is not the only one who believes in this idea, as Glen Powell recently made a very similar statement. Speaking to The Telegraph, he said:

One of the things I’ve realized recently is that when studios say a genre is dead, all they mean is that there’s a huge opportunity in it because a market isn’t being served.

As both emphasize, it is not the genre but the story that determines the success or failure of a project. A genre is not dead if good films and TV series emerge from it, as Sheridan proves in the case of Westerns and Powell in the case of romantic comedies. As Powell said:

I am convinced that there is no problem in Hollywood that cannot be solved by a really good film.

Before his successful film alongside Sydney Sweeney, Glen Powell also heard similar opinions about the romantic comedy genre, which was supposedly at an end. But his film, Everyone except youhas proven that a genre has only really disappeared when people stop making projects about it.

Glenn Powell turned down a role in the Jurassic Park Restart

Jurassic Park is being re-released and we already have confirmation that Scarlett Johansson has been signed to play a leading role. David Keopp, who wrote the screenplay for the first two films in the series, is back for the upcoming film and will take over the director’s chair Godzilla Gareth Edwards is the star of the film. But recently Glen Powell revealed that he was also a candidate for the film, but turned down the role. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, he said:

This is one of the things I’ve wanted to do my whole life… I’m not doing this movie because I read the script and immediately thought my being in this movie wouldn’t help it.

He added:

The script is great. The film is going to be amazing. That’s not the point. It’s about deciding where you make the audience happy and where you make yourself happy.

Even if the original Jurassic Park (1993) film was one of his “Favorite movies“He didn’t just want to be part of the movie to be part of the franchise.”
