Dodgers make few changes to roster ahead of series finale in Detroit

The Los Angeles Dodgers have activated right-hander Brett Honeywell ahead of their series finale against the Detroit Tigers. In a related move, the Dodgers have optioned right-hander Ricky Vanasco, the team announced.

Honeywell was activated one day after the Dodgers claimed him off waivers. He previously spent the 2024 season with the Pittsburgh Pirates, posting a 2.70 ERA in 3.1 innings. Honeywell also pitched 39 innings in Triple-A this season, posting a 4.85 ERA and 33 strikeouts.

Vanasco returns to Triple-A Oklahoma City after just one game in the major leagues. His outing did not go well, as Vanasco allowed three earned runs in overtime during the Dodgers’ 11-9 loss to the Detroit Tigers on Saturday.

He also appeared in one game for the Dodgers this season on April 15, not allowing a single earned run in two innings. He has a 3.63 ERA in Triple-A this season.

The Dodgers also placed Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the 60-day injured list. Yamamoto was out of action for nearly a month with a rotator cuff strain and made his last start on June 15. He has already made significant progress in his recovery after beginning his throwing program earlier this weekend.
