GRAND RAPIDS – Boulder Creek Golf Club, a popular public golf course in suburban Grand Rapids, will host the 14th annual GAM Women’s Four-Ball Championship on Monday and Tuesday, July 15-16.
A field of 38 golf teams of two players each will compete in four-ball or best-ball stroke play over 36 holes. Championship teams will be determined in the Overall Division (ages 49 and under) and the Senior Division (ages 50 and over).
Boulder Creek is hosting a Golf Association of Michigan tournament for the first time. The 18-hole course was designed by Mark DeVries and measures a maximum of 6,949 yards with a slope rating of 131 and a USGA rating of 73.5. Five tee boxes make it suitable for players of varying skill levels.
It opened in 1998 and hosted an Epson Tour tournament in 1999. In addition to the golf course, there is a full practice facility, instructional programs and a popular restaurant and banquet facilities.
Amy Pollack is the general manager and head PGA golf professional and Mike Robart is the superintendent.
Last year, Joan Garety of Ada and Terry Delcamp, who now lives in Florida and has returned home to play, teamed up at Clio Country Club to win the senior title for an unprecedented seventh time.
Megan Miron of Canada and Paula Badino of Argentina, teammates at Grand Valley State University who spent the summer in Allendale, won the overall with a final-round score of 8 under par and 64.
Both championship teams return for this year’s championship.
The names of the two winning teams of the 14th edition of the tournament will be engraved on the permanent tournament trophy, which is named the “Garety/Hiestand Trophy” in honor of Garety and Mary Jane Hiestand, also a member of the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame.
