Grammy-nominated singer threatens to “ruin” the music industry

In a series of impassioned social media posts this week, singer Bebe Rexha took aim at the music industry, claiming it could “bring down a HUGE portion of this industry,” and saying she is “frustrated” and feels “undermined” after being “so quiet for so long.”

The 34-year-old pop star and former Staten Island resident posted on X that she “didn’t see the signs even though people bring them up all the time and they were SO OBVIOUS,” claiming she was “silenced and PUNISHED by this industry.”

“Things need to change or I’m telling ALL my truths. The good, the bad and the ugly,” she added in her X-post, without elaborating on the subject. When a fan responded in the comments asking for details of her claims, Rexha replied, “You haven’t even heard 5 percent. You have NO CLUE.”

Incidentally, David Guetta’s 2015 song “Hey Mama” was co-written by Rexha, Guetta and others. Although she was credited as a co-writer, she did not receive credit for her vocals on the song, which also featured Nicki Minaj and Afrojack. The issue has since been resolved.

When another commenter asked why the star didn’t say anything, the four-time Grammy nominee replied, “THEY’RE PUNISHING YOU.”

IN OTHER BEBE NEWS

Rexha has been active on social media lately and recently posted a story on her Instagram account in response to a hater’s comment that she looks like a porn star.

“The guy who told me I looked like a porn star? I take that as a compliment,” she said with a big smile, a snap of her fingers and a confident shake of her head. The video appeared to have been filmed while Bebe was a passenger in a car with loud music playing in the background.

Again, Rexha did not elaborate on the encounter, who made the derogatory comment, or how the exchange developed or ended, but she seems unfazed by the incident.

Another incident recently made headlines when a fan tried to throw something at her while she was performing on stage. The pop star has zero tolerance for inappropriate behavior and immediately removed the fan from the audience.

The fan was later charged with assault. The alleged perpetrator, who was 27 years old at the time and was identified as Nicolas Malvagna, had his legal team testify that he had only tried to take a selfie with Rehxa and had no intention of harming her.

Last month, former Staten Islander Bebe Rexha made headlines with another message to her fans and her body-shaming haters: “Those of you who call me fat should know that my bank account is too.” You can read the full story here.

Rexha, a Tottenville High School graduate, has spoken about her weight struggles and her journey to positive body image in the past, and recently revealed that she has polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). She posted a video on TikTok about the condition and asked her fans questions.

Despite her health problems and sensational discussions with her fans, Bebe is always an eye-catcher on the red carpet and was nominated for a Grammy for her hit single “I’m Good (Blue).” She lost to Beyoncé in the category “Best Electronic Dance Music Recording”.
