As the summer holidays begin in China, many destinations across the country are offering leisure activities and opening more areas to the public to attract tourists.

From the beginning of July to the end of August, i.e. during the nationwide summer holiday season, the need for travel increases significantly.

In recent days, the number of tourists entering and leaving Gongbei Port in Zhuhai city, south China’s Guangdong province, has exceeded 300,000 daily, with most of the tourists coming from families visiting Macau, which hosts cultural activities during the summer holidays to attract tourists.

With its pleasantly cool climate, Heilongjiang Province in northeast China has also become a popular tourist destination and offers a welcome refuge from the summer heat.

Recently, more than 200 running enthusiasts gathered for a challenging uphill cross-country run at a scenic spot in the culture of the Hezhe ethnic group in the city of Jiamusi.

“The weather here is perfect for the cross-country race,” said Liang Junxi, a runner in the race.

As the capital of the country, Beijing has many well-known attractions. However, this summer, renowned universities such as Peking University and Tsinghua University also opened their campuses, attracting many interested young people.

The two-month vacation also offers foreign students studying in China the opportunity to discover the enchanting beauty of the country.

Hamna, a student from Pakistan, came to China about a year ago. She studies at the Ocean University of China in Qingdao, east China’s Shandong province.

The student said that she always shares her travel experiences in China with her family.

“People in Pakistan are very positive about China. They are keen to come to China and are keen to visit China,” she said.

An ever-growing number of Chinese sporting goods companies with advanced technologies are establishing themselves as competitive players in the international sports market and becoming trusted suppliers for major sporting events.

For the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris, which open on July 26, a variety of equipment, such as mats for judo and wrestling, will be provided by Chinese companies.

Manufactured by Taishan Sport in eastern China’s Shandong province, these eco-friendly mats are stain-resistant, antimicrobial and easy to clean.

“Here in my hand is a wrestling mat and this is for judo. We have introduced a smart chip technology that collects real-time data on an athlete’s power and speed during training to provide guidance. We also applied an antimicrobial nanotechnology coating to the leather layer, which helps prevent the accumulation and growth of microorganisms on the mats. This is the first time this technology has been used for judo mats,” said Wang Wei, chief engineer at Taishan Sport’s Technology Center.

China’s sponsorship of the Paris Olympics also includes table tennis tables, table tennis balls, weightlifting dumbbells, flooring and other equipment.

These companies are not only the suppliers; they also take care of the installation, testing and maintenance of the equipment.

“We not only supply the products. We also ensure that the equipment is installed safely and correctly. We are also responsible for testing and maintenance,” said Bian Qingfeng, chairman of Taishan Sport.
