“Barbie” and Taylor Swift are the winners of the Kids’ Choice Awards at the Pauley Pavilion
“Barbie” and Taylor Swift emerged as grand prize winners at the annual slimefest that is the 2024 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.
Among the awards presented Saturday at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion was a Legend Gold Blimp Award for former tennis superstar Serena Williams for a career in sports, fashion, beauty and lifestyle.
“Barbie” won four awards, including Favorite Movie and Favorite Actress for its star Margot Robbie. Two songs from the film’s soundtrack, “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish and “Barbie World” by Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice featuring Aqua, won the awards for Favorite Song and Favorite Music Collaboration, respectively.
Taylor Swift won three awards for Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Global Music Star and Favorite Ticket of the Year for her The Eras Tour.
Set in the animated world of SpongeBob SquarePants, the show was co-hosted by SpongeBob and his buddy Patrick Star, with voices provided by Tom Kenny and Bill Fagerbakke, in honor of the show’s 25th anniversary.
“SpongeBob” also won the award for most popular cartoon.
The Kids Choice Awards are known for dousing their stars in green slime, with the approval of the audience. This year’s recipients included artists The Kid Laroi and Jelly Roll, singer, songwriter and actress Reneé Rapp, and actors Jack Black and Henry Golding.
This year’s ceremony also featured rainbow slime, a first for the annual awards show.
The Kids Choice winners are selected exclusively through online voting.
