The Kansas City Chiefs recently announced their collaboration with Hallmark, Skydance Sports and the NFL for the film “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story,” part of their 15th annual Countdown to Christmas programming event. A recent update revealed that team members will be involved in the production and provided details on the highly anticipated storyline.

Hunter King plays Alana Higman, who is convinced that her family is one of the favorites for the team’s Fan of the Year contest because of their lifelong experience as Kansas City Chiefs superfans. Tyler Hynes plays Derrick, Director of Fan Engagement, who evaluates Alana and her family against the other two finalists. After spending time together, it’s clear there’s a spark between the two, but when her grandfather’s (Ed Begley Jr.) old winter hat emblazoned with the Chiefs’ “Good Luck” slogan goes missing, Alana begins to doubt everything she believed about fate and destiny, even questioning her future with Derrick.

Filming began in July, with shooting taking place in and around Kansas City, with the iconic GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium taking center stage. This is the first time the Chiefs’ home stadium has been used as a filming location for a Hallmark movie.

“After we announced the movie, fan excitement reached its peak,” said Samantha DiPippo, senior vice president of programming at Hallmark Media, in a statement. “Having Coach Reid, Trey Smith, Mecole Hardman Jr., Clyde Edwards-Helaire and George Karlaftis join us in the game gives viewers even more reason to be excited.”

The veteran actor in the Chiefs’ film group is Reid, who recently rose to prominence in commercials. Fans will have to wait until the holiday season to see the defending champions help spread the magic of love and football.
