Former Michigan QB JJ McCarthy fires huge shot at Ohio State

The rivalry between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Michigan Wolverines is one of the greatest in all of sports, and Minnesota Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy has played a big part in it.

McCarthy spent three seasons at Michigan before moving to the NFL. During his time in Ann Arbor, the Wolverines won 3-0 against the Buckeyes. McCarthy himself won 2-0 against Ohio State as a starter.

Before McCarthy’s arrival, the Buckeyes had eight straight wins against Michigan, so if anyone has the right to talk badly about them, it’s McCarthy.

Well, that’s exactly what the former Wolverines signal-caller, who led the school to the national championship last season, decided to do in his Instagram story.

“100% of Ohio State players have never beaten Michigan,” McCarthy boasted.

Ohio State has arguably the most talented roster in the country for 2024 and appears poised to end its losing streak against Michigan, which not only saw McCarthy depart but also lost several key members of its national title team. And watched head coach Jim Harbaugh depart for the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Buckeyes haven’t won a national championship in a decade, but this could well be their most talented group of players since then.

We’ll see if Ohio State can finally get back on track when it hosts the Wolverines in Columbus on November 30th against Michigan.

McCarthy threw for 2,991 yards, 22 touchdowns and four interceptions and completed 72.3 percent of his passes in 2023. In Michigan’s recent win over the Buckeyes, he completed 16 of 20 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown.
