Ricki Lake and Pauly Shore remember Richard Simmons after the fitness guru’s death

Ricki Lake and Pauly Shore expressed their condolences to popular fitness guru Richard Simmons, who passed away just one day after his 76th birthday.

The news of his death was confirmed by his long-time publicist Tom Estey to People on Saturday, July 13th.

Following the announcement of his death, numerous celebrities and fans expressed their heartfelt condolences to Simmons on social media.

Lake, 55, expressed her sadness in a post on X (formerly Twitter) with an old photo.

“I am heartbroken by the loss of this very special person,” the American television presenter and actress wrote in the caption of the photo in which she posed with Richard Simmons, Simmons and Maria Menounos. “May he rest in peace. #richardsimmons I loved him so much.”

Shore, 56, also mourned Simmons’ death with a heartfelt message on social media.

“I just learned, like everyone else, that the wonderful Richard Simmons has passed away,” he wrote, sharing a photo of the fitness icon.

“I hope you are resting in peace and sparkling in the sky. Please give my mum Mitzi and my dad Sammy a big hug and a kiss from me,” the comedian and actor said, referring to his late parents, adding: “You are one of a kind, Richard.”

He praised Simmons’ larger-than-life personality, saying: “An amazing life. An amazing story. They broke the dolphin shorts when they made you. Rest in peace, my friend.”
