Irish singer Rebecca O’Connor imitates the late Tina Turner at a tribute concert in KL

KUALA LUMPUR, July 12 – The late Tina Turner supported her personally and now you can watch Rebecca O’Connor pay tribute to the late “Queen of Rock ‘n Roll”.

Last night, O’Connor set KL on fire with the spirit of Turner through her Simply the best: We celebrate Tina Tribute. She performs tonight (July 12) and again tomorrow at Zepp Kuala Lumpur.

The only artist endorsed by Turner herself – who once famously said, “Rebecca is so good, it’s scary!” – has spent 15 years perfecting her craft.

“I know it’s very hard to keep Tina’s music alive! Every performance has to be my best,” O’Connor said in a previous media interview.

The show kicked off with a pre-act by local singer and rapper Kayda Aziz, who performed her hit Call me.

The artist is a staple in the Malaysian hip hop scene and has collaborated with industry veterans Sheila Majid (her mother), Altimet, Yuka Kharisma and KRU.

Then it was showtime, as O’Connor and her band of musicians and dancers delivered a powerful performance, exuding a stage presence reminiscent of Turner.

Throughout the 90-minute concert, which was divided into two sets, the audience sang and danced to O’Connor’s interpretations.

The Irish singer radiated boundless energy and captured Turner’s signature wild hair and iconic red lipstick.

“She sounds like Tina Turner! When I close my eyes, I feel like I see Tina herself,” said local singer Hunny Madu.

She added that O’Connor covered her favorite songs What does love have to do with it And I can’t stand the rain very good.
