CARLY, WHAT I READ IN JUNE 2024

CARLY, WHAT I READ IN JUNE 2024

Books

I’m clearly pretty behind on this, but I noticed I didn’t publish my post about what I read in June! It’s a short list, but a good one!

Such a bad influence by Olivia Muenter

4.5/5 stars

I loved it Such a bad influence by Olivia Muenter. It’s a bit of a psychological thriller, but only in the sense that there’s a mystery to solve. I thought it would be more of a family drama with a celebrity mommy vlogger, her now teenage daughter who is a huge influencer in her own right, and her adult daughter who has retreated from the spotlight. The influencer daughter has disappeared under mysterious circumstances and her older sister is trying to figure out what happened to her. I loved the whole thing – especially the end, oh my god.

Margo has money problems by Rufi Thorpe

4/5 stars

If you are an audiobook fan, I highly recommend you listen to the audiobook of Margo has money problems. Elle Fanning narrates it and she does a fantastic job. I went into the story completely unprepared and had no idea what it was going to be about. Basically, the main character, Margo, gets pregnant after a brief affair with one of her college professors. She has the baby and has to figure out how to support her child while also being a young, single mother. It’s a quirky book, but it has deep character development and a really brilliant writing style. While listening to the book, it actually felt “familiar” to me and I realized I had read (and loved) the author’s other book. The Knockout Queen.

SWAN SONG by Elin Hilderbrand

4/5 stars

Of course I had to get Elin Hilderbrand’s latest novel! Swan Song is her “swan song” as she steps back from her current book/year plan. If you have never read a novel by Elin Hilderbrand, I would not Start here. In my opinion, this book is for Elin fans. It perfectly rounds out her career of summer romances about Nantucket featuring her favorite characters from her fictional world.
