A Syrian soldier was killed and three others injured when Israeli planes attacked military facilities and a residential building in the southwestern part of the capital Damascus.

The official Syrian news agency SANA reported, citing a military source, that the Israeli airstrike took place after midnight on Sunday and targeted military sites and a house in the Kafr Sousa neighborhood.

“The Israeli enemy carried out an air strike from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, while the air defense systems of our Syrian Arab Army intercepted the rockets fired by the Israeli enemy and shot down some of them,” the military source said in a statement.

The Israeli airstrike on the crisis-ridden Arab state came amid the regime’s bloody attacks on Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Since the surprise attack by Palestinian resistance movements against the regime on October 7, dubbed Operation Storm Al-Aqsa, Israel has launched relentless air and ground attacks on the coastal area, including hospitals, homes and places of worship.

At least 38,443 Palestinians, most of them women and children, were killed and another 88,481 people were injured.

Israel frequently attacks military positions in Syria, particularly those of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah, which plays a key role in supporting the Syrian army in the fight against foreign-backed terrorists.

The regime in Tel Aviv has made little comment on its cowardly attacks on Syrian territory. Many see this as a knee-jerk reaction to the Syrian government’s phenomenal success in combating and decimating terrorism.

Since the outbreak of the foreign-backed uprising in Syria, Israel has been the main sponsor of terrorist groups opposing the democratically elected government of President Bashar al-Assad.
