Two disasters in a row in York: Fire rages in warehouse, tankers collide | News from Pennsylvania

SPRING GARDEN TWP., Pa. — Disaster after disaster is occurring in South Central Pa. First, a six-alarm fire rages in a warehouse in York, then two tanker trucks collide while fighting the fire.

Damage was visible on the front of a tanker, including cracked glass.

According to authorities, seven firefighters were injured in the accident, which occurred shortly before 11 p.m. on Friday.

In a Facebook post, the York New Salem Volunteer Fire Department said five of its firefighters were injured in the accident, with injuries ranging from “some minor bumps and bruises to somewhat more serious injuries.”

The post continues: “We ask that everyone keep everyone involved in our station and the two members of the Laurel Fire Co. in their thoughts and prayers.”

According to the Laurel Fire Company, both firefighters involved were taken to the hospital and released at 1 a.m.

According to a report in the York Daily Record, the tankers were transporting water to and from a dumping site for the burning warehouse.

The York City Fire Department said its firefighters were busy extinguishing embers from the warehouse fire until the early hours of Saturday morning. The warehouse was a total loss, the report said.

According to officials, none of the injuries were life-threatening.
