Nostalgic journey told through the book for the 100th anniversary of the tennis club

Blofield Tennis Club has published a commemorative booklet to mark 100 years of service to the community.

The lively, illustrated souvenir tells the club’s fascinating journey and includes old photos and memories of long-time members.

Founded in 1924, the club joined the post-war movement to popularize lawn tennis in public parks.

The new book was launched at the club’s 1920s-style centenary celebrations, attended by over 100 guests.

Chair Karen Isbill said: “We are committed to staying true to the principles of our founding fathers and look forward to bringing the wonderful sport of tennis to as many people as possible over the next 100 years.

“With the Wimbledon Championships now in full swing, this is the perfect time to play on our three beautifully maintained grass courts or two all-weather hard courts.”

The book, entitled “100 Years of Blofield Tennis Club: Our Story So Far, 1924 to 2024”, is A5 format, 32 pages long and contains 46 illustrations.

It is available for £5 from S&S Mitchell Newsagents in Blofield, or copies can be ordered direct from the club.
