BMRCL remembers Aparna Vastarey, the voice behind Namma Metro announcements, with memorial message on all trains: Report | Bengaluru

On July 12, a day after the death of popular anchor and Kannada actress Aparna Vastarey, who had bravely battled stage four lung cancer, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) decided to honour her and pay tribute by broadcasting a special message on all its metro trains throughout the day, reported The Hindu.

For many Namma Metro passengers, Aparna was a familiar and reassuring presence as the voice behind the announcements during their journey.

To appreciate her association, the BMRCL, which runs the Namma Metro, posted on social media site ‘X’, “She has the honour of conducting so many Namma Metro programmes. Her command of the Kannada language and pronunciation was mesmerising. Her voice on the Namma Metro trains will live forever. Namma Metro misses her in all our future endeavours. May her soul rest in peace.”

Aparna’s final ceremony was conducted with full police honours at Banashankari crematorium. Before cremation, her body was laid out for public mourning at her residence in Banashankari where well-known personalities from the film industry, including actors Srinath and Srujan Lokesh, paid their last respects, the report added.

In a heartfelt gesture, Aparna’s husband and writer Nagaraj Vastarey posted a poignant poem on Facebook dedicated to his late wife. The popular television presenter and voice artist died at the age of 57. She was known for her distinctive voice and dynamic presentation skills.
