Chelsia Chen talks about her fight against breast cancer

16th September – Former singer and chairwoman of the Lion Parkson Foundation, Puan Sri Chelsia Chan, has published a book titled “My Cause, My Music” in which she describes her battle with breast cancer.

As Epoch Times reported, the former singer, who is married to Malaysian businessman Tan Sri William Cheng, admitted that she was shocked when she was diagnosed with cancer in late June last year, but that writing her book helped her a lot to calm down and suppress negative energies.

Chen explained that after her diagnosis, her family quickly arranged for her to begin treatment. In just four months, she underwent eight sessions of chemotherapy and surgery to remove the cancer.

Speaking about her emotional state, Chen said that she was deeply affected at first, but that things felt much easier once she began to adjust and settle in.

“The most important thing is not to suppress your feelings and to express them appropriately. If people hide their feelings in order not to worry their family and friends, they only increase their own emotional burden,” she said.

Chen, who has now recovered, stressed that fighting the disease requires not only treatment but also a change in mentality and lifestyle.

On the other hand, the former singer also revealed that she sent her book to actor Andy Lau when she first heard about his hospitalization at the time, and said that she wanted to motivate him to recover with her book.
