Release date, cast and everything you need to know about the action movie sequel starring Chris Pratt

The Tomorrow War was only available on Amazon for a week before it was confirmed that the time-travel war film starring Marvel’s Chris Pratt would be getting a sequel. The film itself follows a war veteran named Dan, who now teaches high school chemistry and is unhappy with the direction his life is taking.

Then, during a World Cup match, a group of soldiers from the year 2051 come onto the field and deliver a message: the future is fighting a war against aliens called Whitespikes and is losing. They hope that they can somehow win by recruiting soldiers from the “present” and bringing them to the future.

To fight the aliens, Dan teams up with his estranged father Slade, also a war veteran, to fight them using scientific means! Will they win? You’ll have to watch the movie to find out… For now, though Spoilers for The Tomorrow War follow.

Plot of The Tomorrow War 2: How is a sequel to The Tomorrow War being prepared?

So far, we can only speculate about what the sequel might entail. The first film had a pretty well-wrapped ending, which we’ve explained in detail.

Here’s a quick reminder: In the future, Dan and his adult daughter Muri (Yvonne Strahovski) discover a virus that can kill the female alien leader. Dan returns to the “present” and, together with his former comrades, discovers that the aliens did not come from space, but have always been beneath the Earth’s surface.

After a fight, Dan manages to kill the leader while the minions are all blown up and everyone lives happily ever after. Dan and his father reconcile and the film ends with Slade meeting his granddaughter (who later becomes Strahovski’s character).

How exactly the story will be continued in a sequel remains to be seen.

The technology for time travel still exists, but during the course of the film, the mechanism that allows time travel – a so-called jumplink – is destroyed. In the sequel, the jumplink may be repaired, causing further time confusion.

Tomorrow War 2 Cast: Is Chris Pratt in Tomorrow War 2?

Rumor has it that the entire creative team will return, including director Chris McKay, screenwriter Zach Dean, and stars Pratt, Yvonne Strahovski, Betty Gilpin (who plays Dan’s wife), Sam Richardson, Edwin Hodge (who plays Dan’s teammates Charlie and Dorian), and Simmons.

What they will all do remains to be seen. We assume that if Strahovski returns as an adult Dr. Muri, time travel should work in the sequel’s plot since she is, by the looks of things, dead in 2053.

The Tomorrow War 2 release date: When will The Tomorrow War 2 be released?

Since the confirmation was only announced recently, we will probably have to wait a while. It is also not yet known whether the film will only be available on Amazon Prime Video or whether it will also premiere in theaters.

If Pratt has his way, the film will probably be released in theaters. He said Digital Spy that nothing beats a cinema experience.
