Sabrina Carpenter: US singer breaks UK chart record by reaching number one and two in the same week | Ents & Arts News

Sabrina Carpenter has set a new UK chart record by becoming the youngest artist to have her top two singles in the same week.

The US singer reached number one on the Official Charts Company with “Please Please Please”, pushing “Espresso”, which had been at the top for five weeks, to number two.

Please Please Please had a total of 9.8 million streams, while Espresso came in second with 8.1 million streams.

At the age of 25 years, one month and 10 days, Carpenter overtakes ArianaGrandethe youngest record holder to date, by around six months.

Grande achieved the same two-place success in the same week when she was 25 years, seven months and 20 days old in February 2019, with “7 Rings” at number one and “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored” at number two.

Eminem is in third place this week with Houdini, while Billie Eilish’s “Birds Of A Feather” is in fourth place, followed by “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” by Shaboozey.

Taylor Swift Although it doesn’t make it into the top five, it sets a new personal record in the album charts with a seventh week at the top.

“The Tortured Poets Department” reaches its seventh consecutive week at number one, surpassing 2022’s “Midnights,” which spent five weeks at the top.

Swift is in the UK as part of her Eras tour and will take the stage at London’s Wembley Stadium on Friday evening.

In second place is the latest album by US singer-songwriter Eilish, Hit Me Hard And Soft, while Brat by British singer Charli XCX came in third.

In fourth place is the greatest hits collection “The Highlights” by Canadian musician The Weeknd.

British rock group Sea Girls also celebrate a hat trick of top five albums as their third studio collection Midnight Butterflies debuts at number five.

The group was already successful in 2020 with “Open Up Your Head” and the 2022 LP “Homesick”, both of which reached number three.
