In his post-race interview, however, Steckly did not express similar praise for Gemmell. He was disappointed by what he saw as the eventual winner’s lack of respect for racing.

“I don’t want to drive like that. I want to drive clean,” Steckly said. “You know, he was racing against me and Connor Pritiko on those restarts, it was pretty incredible. We were just out there and he kept hitting us in the wall, and we had to look.”

“I hate it for me and Connor, my team. We had a pretty good car. We just couldn’t get past Shae. He blocked a lot.”

Jake Sheridan completed the podium, his second consecutive third place in the APC United Late Model Series.

“I think we’re consistent. We had problems with our car today. But it just kept getting better. When the sun went down, I think it was back to how it was a couple of weeks ago. We had a really good stretch, we just needed to drive the race a little bit longer.”

“I’m a little disappointed in myself at the end. I made some really good moves to get there. With two laps to go I came out of the second corner and lost my position. I had completely decided the race to get the 22 and the 3 there. He complained about how he drove it, but he never touched it. I thought he was going to get a little more aggressive, but that didn’t really work out for us.”

Josh Stade finished fourth, Ray Morneau completed the top five

The next stop of the APC United Late Model Series is Sauble Speedway on August 3rd.
