Tina Turner believes her legs are “as famous” as her voice

Tina Turner has gotten used to her legs being “just as famous” as her voice.
The 83-year-old Grammy winner is said to have once insured her brooches for more than £2 million, but has now explained that she used to “show them off” because they helped her dance before they became one of her trademarks.
In The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column, she said: “Sometimes I think I’m as famous for my legs as I am for my voice.
“I just showed my legs so much that it made dancing a lot easier… and then it became part of my style.”
“When I was younger, I wasn’t happy with any part of my body, but with all the attention my legs were getting, I realized they must be OK!”
The “Proud Mary” singer, who retired from the stage in 2009, admitted she decided to create the hit West End show “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical” to give new fans an idea of what it was like to see her live.
She said she was impressed by the actresses chosen for the roles over the five years of film, adding: “They don’t copy me, they have to find a version of me in themselves.”
“It’s not just the singing and dancing… the acting talent to play me is enormous.”
“An actor plays me between the ages of 17 and 40 and hardly leaves the stage.”
Tina also said she liked the idea of the show – which covers her turbulent life including her marriage to late husband Ike Turner, whom she separated from in 1976 after accusing him of beating her – being an inspiration to other artists.
Tina added: “I fought hard to be the first black solo rock artist to fill stadiums.
“I am proud to have helped pave the way for women of the next generation and those after that.”
