Chris Canty describes the fear factor for Ravens fans on the road to Pittsburgh

Ravens-Steelers is arguably the biggest rivalry in football, and this summer has provided plenty of material to back up that claim. Former Ravens DE Chris Canty has now provided even more.

Canty played his last three seasons in Baltimore and since retiring he has successfully pursued a second job as a talk show host.

After establishing himself in the country’s largest market, New York City, Canty went on a national tour. He co-hosts ESPN Radio’s morning show Unsportsmanlike with Evan Cohen and Michelle Smallmon, featuring Cohen, Canty, and Michelle.

In the last episode, Smallmon ranked her five biggest NFL fan bases and put the Steelers at number one. While Canty didn’t say whether he agreed with the rankings or not, he did make a comment that caused astonishment.

Canty expressed how intimidating it is for fans of the opposing team to visit Acrisure Stadium.

“Pittsburgh Steelers fans were afraid to show up if they were visiting fans,” Canty said.

“There’s that fear factor – that unease that comes with arriving at Heinz Field or whatever the stadium is called now.

“You just can’t get involved. It’s better to do it right and keep a cool head when you’re cheering on the visiting team.”

That sounds pretty scary, Ravens fans. If you’re heading to the Steel City for the Nov. 17 game this year, consider this a warning.

Canty played 148 games in the NFL and recorded 22 1/2 sacks, 234 tackles and five forced fumbles.
