“Pretty easy” to bet on Chris Taylor

Chris Taylor has been a key contributor for the Los Angeles Dodgers over the past few years, but he is currently in the worst season of his career.

In 42 games, Taylor has a miserable batting average of .131/.230/.192 with one double, one triple, one home run and nine RBIs in 99 at-bats. The 33-year-old’s batting average is the second-lowest in baseball among players with at least 100 runs batted in.

Taylor’s playing time has decreased significantly as a result of his problems, but he will still face a left-handed pitcher on occasion, and that will increase even more with Mookie Betts out.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has no problem including Taylor in the starting lineup and explained his reasons for sticking with the veteran.

“I think I’m a big supporter of the game honoring you,” Roberts said. “And CT was even here today, he got speed early and battled.”

“He’s a great teammate, he’s always on the bench, watching the games and he’s ready when he’s needed. And of course he’s grown tremendously with what he’s done for us and me during my time as a Dodger.

“He’s always prepared. So I think it’s often pretty easy for me to bet on the person.”

Even though Taylor has done next to nothing with his bat, he is still a hard worker and an excellent teammate.

The all-rounder also scores with his versatility, as he can play six positions.

Roberts’ faith in Taylor could well pay off, as he has a batting average of .294/.368/.588 over the last seven games, including two extra-base hits and two stolen bases.

It’s a small sample size, but maybe that’s all Taylor needs to get back on track.

Chris Taylor remains focused despite frustrating season

Despite putting up historically poor numbers this season, Taylor is trying to stay positive. “I’m just trying to take it day by day,” he said recently.

“I’ve definitely had my frustrating moments, but I just try to embrace the process and trust that my work will ultimately bring me success. I know what I’m capable of, so I don’t lose sight of that and keep on going.”
