It’s Friday and once again it’s a big week for country music! We’ve got 50 of the biggest new songs in country and Americana for you in our weekly Best New Country playlist!
This week’s cover star is Megan Moroney! Everyone’s favorite Georgia girl releases her second album, Am I okay? today as the successor to their popular debut Happy from last year.
The album’s 14 songs, once again produced by collaborator Kristin Bush, showcase Megan at her best and prove once again why she is one of the most exciting singers and songwriters in country music today.
We’re kicking off this week’s Best New Country list with the album’s thrilling title track. It’s a gang-vocal-driven country-punk-pop power anthem that perfectly captures the pure thrill of getting over a bad breakup and falling head over heels for someone new, and we couldn’t be more in love with it.
Next up, we have another of our Holler favorites, Dasha, with her brand new single “Did’t I.” While “Austin” is currently still streaming nearly five million times a day and making her late-night TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live and after receiving a standing ovation that moved her to tears at her debut at the Grand Ole Opry, she is wasting no time with her next performance.
She’s already performed “Didn’t I” in front of 65,000 people at Nissan Stadium, so it seems only fair that a few million more of you hear it.
“‘Didn’t I’ is so nostalgic, there’s something about my past that fascinates me, including men,” Dasha says of the song. “In the writers’ room, I referenced a time many months ago when I relapsed into the guy that ‘Austin’ is about. It’s an admission of ‘oops, there I go again, my bad,’ but I love how we made it lighthearted and fun.”
We love it so much already! This one could be even bigger than “Austin.”

Sturgill Simpson is back! Only now he is called Johnny Blue Skies. But he is still the old Sturgill. His new album, Passage of Desireis a mix of glossy ’80s pop production and outlaw country that sounds like a cross between Waylon Jennings and Robert Palmer. We think he just invented a whole new genre called yacht country! We’ve got the beautiful “Who I Am” on our Best New Country playlist today. Just wait for the TikTokers to pick this up and catapult it into the stratosphere.
The release marks the beginning of a new era for the artist – after he promised to release only five studio albums under the Sturgill Simpson name – and was produced by Johnny Blue Skies and David Ferguson and recorded at Clement House Recording Studio in Nashville, Tennessee and Abbey Road Studios in London, England.
Of the new chapter, Johnny Blue Skies says: “You can turn the page or light the book and dance around the flames. You can try to live above hell, or you can just rise a little higher. Here’s to clean living and dirty thinking.”
This week we had a double win with the upcoming Twisters film as it approaches next week. Miranda Lambert’s contribution “Ain’t In Kansas Anymore” is released along with “Steal My Thunder” by Conner Smith and Tucker Wetmore.
The songs complement the previously released Twisters Songs like “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma” by Luke Combs, “Hell or High Water” by Bailey Zimmerman, “Never Left Me” by Megan Moroney, “Too Easy” by Tanner Adell, “Out of Oklahoma” by Lainey Wilson, “Song While You’re Away” by Tyler Childers, and “Already Had It” by Tucker Wetmore.
Set to be released to coincide with the film’s July 19 premiere, the star-studded compilation will feature contributions from Shania Twain, Thomas Rhett, Jelly Roll, Kane Brown and The Red Clay Strays. The compilation will also spotlight some of the genre’s up-and-coming talent, including Wyatt Flores, Nolan Taylor, Jake Kohn, Dylan Gossett, Sam Barber, Mason Ramsey and Warren Zeiders.
Muscadine Bloodline, the country music duo of Charlie Muncaster and Gary Stanton, released a new song today: “Tickets to Turnpike,” featuring Kyle Nix of the Turnpike Troubadours on fiddle. The song is taken from their upcoming album, The coastal plain will be released on August 16th.
“This song is special to us because we’ve always looked up to the Turnpike Troubadours,” the duo said. “Over the years, we’ve been able to cross a tour with them off our bucket list. It means a lot to us to have Kyle Nix from Turnpike on the track as well. It seemed very fitting and makes it even more special for us.”
Two of our Holler 10 Artists You Need To Know alumni are releasing new music today. Country rock phenomenon Colin Stough is releasing his new EP, Looking for a homeand we have the stunning title track for you to listen to, while Logan Crosby releases two new songs ahead of his performance at the Calgary Stampede this weekend and gives us two more glimpses of his highly anticipated debut album 2019will be released in September. “Love Like That Again” and “But I Do” are Logan’s self-proclaimed “saddest songs to date” that are meant to tug at the heartstrings. We love them both so much that we have them both on our playlist for you today.
HARDY releases his new album, Stop!!and we have “HAPPY HOUR (feat. Knox)” on our playlist for you today, along with new songs from Warren Zeiders and Koe Wetzel!
Colby Acuff reunites with The Castellows for “How Do I Feel Alive” and GRAMMY and CMA Award-nominated country singer and artist Drew Parker releases his debut album, Camouflage Cowboyvia Warner Music Nashville. The 14-track collection includes the singles “The Truck,” “Love The Leavin,” and “Better On A Boat.” You can hear the title track on our Best New Country playlist this week.
“I hope it gives you a deeper insight into who I am as a man and what is most important to me,” Parker shares.Camouflage Cowboy“It’s not just about wearing a shirt or a hat. It’s about wearing my heart on my sleeve and being true to myself. It’s about being open and letting people see the real me.”
Shawna Thompson, co-founder of the successful multi-platinum duo Thompson Square, releases her latest single “Small Town Wreck” from her upcoming solo debut album. Lean on Neonwill be released on September 13th on the legendary Sun Records.
“It’s a song about struggle, love and redemption,” Thompson told Holler. “I love this song because it addresses the hypocrisy that I’ve seen so often in churches. Sometimes the person who needs help the most is cast out, shunned or condescended to by a congregation because they don’t fit the mold or are on the wrong side of the tracks – even though the Bible teaches us not to judge and to help those in need. But human nature is such that it often brings out the worst in us. I love, though, that this song ends with her letting her faith guide her above all else.”
