Highlights
- It is best to trade these players in dynasty leagues when they turn 30.
- Davante Adams and Stefon Diggs are surrounded by more and more talent as they get older.
- The possible retirements of Rodgers and Kelce are why you need to sell them now before it’s too late.
Dynasty is a different type of fantasy football where player values can change drastically each year. It doesn’t work like a normal redraft league, as some of the NFL’s best players will see their dynasty value drop as they age or fall into less ideal situations.
Then an emergency trade is necessary for some players, as their value is expected to drop sharply in such a short period of time.

Josh Jacobs – RB |

Davante Adams – WR |

Stefon Diggs – WR |

Travis Kelce – TE |

These players will all see a fairly rapid decline in their dynasty value, and for different reasons. But the good news is that you can get a head start now. All of these players are still considered stars at their position and would warrant high trade value in dynasty formats.
There is a very short window between now and the start of the season to maximize the trade value of these players. Take advantage of the high return you can get in the dynasty to rejuvenate your team.

Fantasy Football: These 10 players you have to buy in Dynasty
10 NFL players you need to sign in fantasy football, especially in the dynasty format.
1 Aaron Rodgers
Given the excitement surrounding Rodgers’ move to a talented Jets team, this is the last window of his career to trade him
At 40 years old and with a torn Achilles, Aaron Rodgers is no longer worth anything in dynasty formats. In Rodgers’ final season with the Green Bay Packers, he finished as QB13. His season with the Green Bay Packers would be considered a successful season with the New York Jets, but that advantage is not great for someone who is projected as QB20 in a dynasty.
Yes, there is a lot of excitement surrounding the Jets, but dynasty managers would only get Rodgers on their roster for maybe another season or two. Because of the makeup of the roster, the Jets will be a run-heavy team with Breece Hall. They won’t play many high-scoring games, as their defense ranks 12th in 2023 and should only get better with an improved offense.
Rodgers and the Jets are more likely to disappoint in 2024 than anything else. Rodgers would have to rebound significantly to get back to where he was in 2022, when he wasn’t at the level he was at the peak of his career. If you’re willing to pair Rodgers with another player, you could maybe get someone like Trevor Lawrence or Justin Herbert, two talented young quarterbacks. Or you could get someone like Geno Smith or Will Levis, who are risky but have more years left in them, along with a future third-round pick or something equally valuable.
2 Josh Jacobs
Jacobs’ current contract with the Packers is more of a reason to buy MarShawn Lloyd and trade the experienced running back.
It’s good practice to invest in dynasty players whose contracts are up for renewal, but Josh Jacobs might be an exception. On the surface, Jacobs signed a large contract extension with the Green Bay Packers. In reality, however, it’s only a one-year deal with the ability to easily leave after the first year.
There’s a chance Jacobs could have a comeback season in the Packers’ strong offense, but he’s coming off the worst year of his career behind an improved Las Vegas Raiders offensive line.

He had his worst year after playing the best season of his career. Despite Jacobs’ contract with the Packers, the organization spent a third-round pick to recruit MarShawn Lloyd from USC. Lloyd was drafted for a reason and could take over the backfield as soon as 2025. He has a lot less yardage but some real potential as a pass receiver. Trade Jacobs to get Lloyd plus either another premium player or another premium pick.
3 Davante Adams
We know Adams is one of the best players of his generation, but it’s best to maximize his trade value while you can
It’s never easy to give away a fantasy superstar, but it’s time to maximize Davante Adams’ value before it’s too late. For nearly a decade, Adams was one of the best wide receivers in fantasy football.

Over the course of his career, Adams has secured WR1 status in every season and has finished as WR1 in all but two seasons since 2016. During that same time period, Adams has finished in the top three four times. He has not only been consistent, but also elite.
Father Time is, unfortunately, undefeated, and Adams will have to battle that and poor quarterback play no matter who wins the battle in Las Vegas. Those are just two of the many reasons Adams will regress in 2024, which means you have to get ahead of the curve.
4 Steve Diggs
Despite the excitement behind the Texans, Diggs entered the most crowded wide receiver room of his career
There is a trend of players being traded in dynasty formats. Yes, Stefon Diggs turns 31 in November, but age is less of an issue for his dynasty value. The biggest problem with Diggs is that he disappeared in several games last season and now he’s being traded to a Houston Texans offense that already has so many talented wide receivers. One has to wonder if Diggs will be a complete fantasy flop in 2024, not just in dynasty formats, but in the redraft as well.
Diggs finished last season as the WR10, but is that realistic for 2024? Although the Texans’ pass catchers were very productive last season, Nico Collins was the only player to surpass the 100 target mark with 109. For comparison, Diggs had 107 pass catches in 2023, including 160. Since joining the Buffalo Bills, Diggs has had over 150 in each of his four seasons, which is highly unlikely in Houston.
In Houston, anyone can do their job. They’re loaded with talent from top to bottom, so it’s difficult for any one player to stand out with more targets than another. There are many factors that should cause Diggs’ dynasty value to drop, but there’s still some left, so you can trade him before he loses value after the 2024 season.
5 Travis Kelce
That hurts. For years, Travis Kelce was overwhelmingly considered the TE1. But the superstar tight end turns 35 in October and has other goals after his playing career. Kelce was TE1 for five years in a row from 2016 to 2020, followed by three more finishes in the top three fantasy players.
There is no more consistent player in fantasy football than Kelce, and dynasty managers who have him know they’ve had an advantage in their league for years. But it’s time to capitalize on his value before you get nothing for him.
As Kelce gets older, he’s more likely to retire. When that time will come is unknown, but his value will only decrease as the years go by. The breakouts of Sam LaPorta and Trey McBride have diminished Kelce’s value as two younger tight ends showed superstar ability.
The good side of Kelce still having tremendous value is that if you add other assets with Kelce, you can acquire one of the other elite tight ends in fantasy. If you wait, you risk losing his value and entering the uncharted territory of irrelevant fantasy tight ends.
