Poland’s Foreign Minister: Ukraine can still win war

Do NATO allies have the strength, patience and unity to support Ukraine until the war is won and Russia is defeated? According to the Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorskithe answer is a clear yes. At GZERO World, Sikorski met with Ian Bremmer on the sidelines of NATO’s 75th anniversary summit in Washington, DC, to discuss the strength of NATO, Putin’s missteps, and why continuing to provide crucial military and economic assistance to Kyiv is a top priority for Western allies and NATO’s future.

“Ukraine is defending us heroically from this evil man and it costs us less than 1% of our GDP,” Sikorski explains. “We can afford that.”

Sikorski says that despite breakaway alliance members like Hungary Viktor OrbanNATO remains united and returns to its original mission of fending off an aggressive Russia. Bremmer and Sikorski also discuss Ukraine’s ongoing challenges, such as ensuring Kyiv can continue to send weapons and new troops to the front. Sikorski remains optimistic that Ukraine will prevail and win the war, with help from Western allies and NATO, especially Poland, which has taken in nearly a million Ukrainian refugees and is helping to train troops to NATO standards.

Bremmer reiterated Sikorski’s belief that Ukraine would win and pointed out that a possible second Donald Trump The Ukrainian government could severely limit further military aid to Kyiv, and there is simply not enough force available to recapture all of Ukrainian territory. Sikorski, however, stuck to his conviction.

“There are always enough little Chamberlains willing to give up other people’s country or freedom for their own peace of mind,” Sikorski said. “I think we can win this fight.”
