Travis Kelce reacts after fan shouts “You still have Taylor” at ACC tournament

Even if Travis Kelce has a bad golf swing, he is still Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, as a fan reminded him at the 2024 American Century Championship.

The NFL player, who is participating in the celebrity charity tournament at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Nevada from Friday, July 12 to Sunday, July 14, received some words of comfort after a bad shot.

In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), the 34-year-old athlete can be seen swinging a golf club at the ball and immediately saying “Oh no!”

Then a fan shouted, “It’s okay, you still have Taylor!” The Kansas City Chiefs tight end pointed to the crowd and replied, “You’re not lying.”

The crowd laughed at his response as he handed his golf club to a caddy. Kelce waved to the crowd before heading to his next hole on the course.

The 34-year-old 14-time Grammy winner wasn’t far from her thoughts as several of her songs played as Kelce teed off in the first and second rounds.

At one point, Kelce nodded his head and sang along to a remix of Swift’s “Lavender Haze” from her 2022 midnight Album, as seen in a social video from NBC Sports Bay Area & CA.

Other songs played as the footballer prepared to swing his golf club were “Fortnight” from their album “2024”, The torture poet’s department, and “Love Story” from her 2008 Fearless Album.

Swift, who was not in attendance because she is abroad as part of her worldwide Eras Tour, showed her support for him this week by liking a few posts on Instagram celebrating her boyfriend’s selection as the NFL’s best tight end.

The rankings, posted on ESPN NFL’s Instagram account, were compiled based on polls taken among league executives, coaches and scouts, and named the top 10 players at 11 different NFL positions. The Kansas City Chiefs also commented on the performance on Instagram, which Swift also liked.

Kelce is playing in the ACC Tournament alongside his brother Jason Kelce, while their father Ed Kelce and Jason’s wife Kylie Kelce cheer them on from the sidelines.

Several other sports stars – including Aaron Rodgers, Josh Allen, Derek Carr, Baker Mayfield, Trevor Lawrence, Joe Flacco and Kyle Juszczyk – also participated in the tournament, alongside celebrities such as Don Cheadle, Michael Peña, Rob McElhenney and Miles Teller.

The American Century Championship ends on Sunday, July 14th.
