During an interview with Gerard Romero, Lamine Jamal spoke about the famous picture of him as a baby next to Lionel MessiIt was part of the 2008 Solidarity Calendar of the Barça Foundation in collaboration with Sports Diary And UNICEF.

“No. I was never able to talk to him about it. I wish I could have spoken to him, but I never did. The truth is that at that moment I wasn’t even aware that I was with Messi (in the photo). The first person to show me the photo was my father and we never made it public because ultimately we didn’t want any comparisons between Leo and me.”

Yamal answered whether it bothers him at the moment that there are so many comparisons with Messi due to his great performance in Euro 2024 with SpainThe 17-year-old is the main candidate for the award as the best player of the tournament.

“No. I don’t think anyone would mind being compared to the best player in history, but in the end it hurts you because you’ll never be like him.”
