3 hospitalized after multi-vehicle crash in West Islip

It occurred on Friday, July 12, around 4:15 p.m. in West Islip on Sunrise Highway (Route 27) between Higbie Lane and Udall Road.

A 31-year-old Ronkonkoma man was riding a 2000 Yamaha motorcycle eastbound when he lost control and collided with the rear of a 2023 Tesla, ejecting him from the motorcycle, according to Suffolk County police.

A 48-year-old Island Park man was riding his 1994 Harley-Davidson eastbound behind the Tesla when he lost control of the motorcycle while trying to avoid the crash and crashed into the rear of the Tesla, police said.

The motorcyclist from Ronkonkoma was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of serious injuries.

The driver of the Harley was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Tesla, a 37-year-old man from Lindenhurst, was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
