Maryland restaurant featured in People’s “100 Reasons to Love America”

People magazine has released the latest installment in its “100 Reasons to Love America” ​​series, in which the magazine highlights the most popular State Fair foods across the country. Maryland’s winner, coming in fourth place, comes from the State Fair in Timonium, which takes place over the course of three weekends in late summer.

“Jimmy’s Famous Seafood’s fried egg rolls are filled with cream cheese and crab cakes and drizzled with mango ponzu and spicy mayo. The handy bites were named the State Fair’s best savory new food last summer (22.–25. Aug., 29 Aug.–2 Sept. 5-8. “(Sept.)”

Founded by the late Dimitrios “Jimmy” Minadakis, The Famous quickly became a Maryland landmark, a direct result of his unmatched work ethic, according to the restaurant. “Since 1974, Jimmy’s Famous Seafood has proudly served the community with iconic culinary creations, unmatched philanthropy and legendary hospitality. Today, Jimmy’s Famous Seafood carries on his vision through his sons, who display the same passion and care for which he was loved.”

The restaurant was also recently named one of two restaurants in Maryland to Food & Wine’s list of “Best Crab Cakes in the U.S.”
