Star cast from “Sex Education” in the new Agatha Christie series

Sex Education and My Lady Jane star Edward Bluemel has been cast in the upcoming Agatha Christie series The Seven Dials Mystery.

According to Variety, Bluemel is the latest star to join the cast of the Agatha Christie crime thriller Broadchurch and Doctor Who showrunner Chris Chibnall.

Bluemel will join the cast alongside “How to Have Sex” actress and BAFTA Rising Star winner Mia McKenna-Bruce, as well as “The Hobbit” actor Martin Freeman and “The Crown” star Helena Bonham Carter.

Written by Chibnall, The Seven Dials Mystery follows Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent (played by McKenna-Bruce) as she solves a murder mystery after a deadly prank at a country house party.

In the new series, set in the 1920s, Bluemel takes on the role of Jimmy Thesiger, described as “a charming and witty man who becomes Bundle’s ally in the murder investigation.” Bonham Carter plays Lady Caterham, while Freeman plays Superintendent Battle.

Suzanne Mackie of “The Crown” will serve as executive producer alongside Chris Sussman and Chris Sweeney of “The Tourist.” Sweeney will also direct the new series.

Mackie previously commented on the project: “I’m excited to bring The Seven Dials Mystery to life and bring a new generation of iconic Christie characters to the screen.”

“It has been a pleasure working with Chris Chibnall to develop this bold, ambitious vision for the series. Together with Chris Sussman and Agatha Christie Limited, and under the masterful leadership of Chris Sweeney, we are excited to embark on this creative journey.”

Meanwhile, McKenna-Bruce said: “Chris Chibnall’s scripts are brilliant and I am delighted to be part of this new interpretation of Agatha Christie’s legendary storytelling.”

Production on The Seven Dials Mystery is set to begin this summer. Doctor Who is currently Broadcast on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere.
