After ten months of war, the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is “absolutely horrific”

The war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza is now in its tenth month and NGOs are once again raising the alarm. The Palestinians, who have been expelled from the enclave several times on the orders of the Israeli army, are crowding into overcrowded areas where humanitarian aid is no longer reaching them.

As the war between Israel and Hamas enters its tenth month, extensive military operations are taking place in Gaza, inexorably worsening the dire humanitarian situation in the enclave.

The conflict has displaced more than 80 percent of the area’s 2.3 million inhabitants. In Gaza City, where the UN says 300,000 to 350,000 people are crammed together, Israel has intensified its military operations in several neighborhoods and issued several evacuation orders.

A leaflet seen by an AFP correspondent states: “To all those present in Gaza City: The safe passages will allow you to move quickly and without checks from Gaza City to shelters in Deir Al-Balah and Al-Zawiya (in central Gaza).” “Gaza City will turn into a dangerous battlefield,” the leaflet continues.

Many residents are refusing to obey the evacuation orders. Witnesses are piling up on social media. “We will die, but we will not go south. We have endured hunger and bombs for nine months and are ready to die here as martyrs,” 30-year-old Mohammad Ali wrote in a text message to Reuters.

“Malnutrition is increasing”
