Chris Eubank Jr. has two Brits and two pound-for-pound stars in his sights for his return to the ring

Chris Eubank Jr. has two Brits and two pound-for-pound stars in his sights for his return to the ring

After nearly a year away from the ring, Chris Eubank Jr. has signed a new promotional deal ahead of his return to the spotlight.

This week it was announced that the 34-year-old has signed with BOXXER and hopes to seduce Saul “Canelo” Alvarez into an exciting super middleweight showdown.

Eubank Jr. has long been a contender for some of the biggest names in the sport, but despite solid wins over James DeGale and a first-round stoppage rematch against Liam Smith, he has yet to win a major world title.

He has been defeated by Billy Joe Saunders and George Groves as well as Smith and has never really committed to a trainer, having recently worked alone with his father, Roy Jones Jr. and Brian “BoMac” McIntyre.

In addition to a fight against Canelo – who is currently rumored to be able to defend his undisputed status against undefeated Puerto Rican challenger Edgar Berlanga – Eubank has three other names in his sights.

According to Dan Rafael’s Fight Freaks Unite, one of them is his British rival Conor Benn, against whom he was scheduled to fight in October 2022. However, the fight was cancelled at short notice when Benn failed doping tests and still does not have a British fighting license.

Also on the list is a rematch with Saunders, who defeated Eubank for the European, British and Commonwealth middleweight titles in 2014 but has not been in the ring since his loss to “Canelo” in 2021.

Finally, Eubank wants pound-for-pound superstar Terence Crawford, who is himself chasing a fight with Canelo but will make his super welterweight debut in the meantime.

Despite the big plans, promoter Eddie Hearn believes that Eubank will have two more preparatory fights beforehand.
