Tom Nitti of New Hartford – a former contestant on NBC’s “The Voice” – will perform at the Great New York State Fair next month.

Fair officials announced the performance, scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, August 29, in Chevy Court, in a statement Friday afternoon.

“Tom Nitti is not only a successful, self-made country star, but also someone who actively gives back to communities across New York through his involvement,” fair director Julie LaFave said in a statement.

“We are very proud to welcome him to Chevy Court and look forward to seeing a New Yorker perform at the Great New York State Fair this summer.”

Information Nitti

Nitti is a New York State Police Officer in the Mohawk Valley and was a contestant on Team Reba in season 24 of “The Voice.”

After graduating from high school, he joined the military and was deployed to Afghanistan.

Nitti suffered a severe brain injury in combat after coming under mortar fire. He was awarded the Purple Heart for his service.

After returning home, he joined the state police and worked in law enforcement, just like his father.

The voice

Nitti was part of Reba McEntire’s team in the 23rd season of “The Voice.” He was also supposed to be part of the previous season, but postponed it for a year due to time constraints while applying for a leave of absence from his job.

He was one of the six finalists on Team Reba, but left the show for family reasons.

“The producers of the show treat you like gold,” Nitti said of his exit from the show during an exclusive interview with OD in December. “And Reba is the most authentic person – she’s the same on TV as she is in real life.”
