Rob Riggle crowns Best Celebrity Karaoke Singer at the American Century Championship

Rob Riggle is one of the most popular comedians at the annual American Century Championship, but this year he holds another title that is just as important.

Riggle hosted the annual celebrity and judge karaoke event at the competition on Thursday night.

Riggle opened the singing with “On the Road Again” by Willie Nelson.

“It’s easy,” Riggle said of his song selection. “Everyone sings along.”

The winner was probably the biggest star on the field this year, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who flew to Tahoe Thursday morning before the karaoke contest began. He did not sing a song by his famous pop star girlfriend Taylor Swift.

“He played Whitesnake,” Riggle said. “A little different direction, but he did it. He was incredible. Bret Baier did a good job. He got third, I think. And Alfonso Ribeiro wins almost every year. This year he got second. But it was a wonderful night. We raised a lot of money and did some charitable things, so it was a good feeling.”

Riggle’s first round on Friday also went well, as he scored minus five points and finished in a tie for 68th place with Nate Bargatze and Mike Golic.

“They’re both just great,” said Riggle, who made a 65-foot putt for birdie on the par-3 7th hole. “Lighthearted, fun, laid back. No one was upset if you hit a bad shot. It was a really enjoyable day. Really fun.”

Riggle also said that Bargatze, who is in his second year of competing in the tournament, holds the distinction of being the best comedian golfer in the field.

“He’s an effortless golfer,” Riggle said. “He has the most natural swing. He hits beautifully. Scored well today (10 points, tied for 25th). He’s a really good golfer.”
