Eminem’s new album “The Death of Slim Shady”: The best reactions from fans

Eminem fans have been waiting quite a long time for a new album from the rapper – four years to be exact. So when he finally released the 19-track album, The death of Slim Shady On Friday (July 12), longtime admirers cheered on social media.

“I’m speechless,” tweeted one person a few hours after the album was released. “25 years later, we’ve come full circle. Eminem delivers one of his best albums and shows us one last time what Slim Shady does.”

Another fan added, “He just released the best album of the last decade… Your favorite rapper can’t fucking compete with that,” while someone else raved, “Lyrics, wordplay, message, beats, production, all TOP QUALITY.”

And although the album — which follows the number one spot on the 2020 Billboard 200 Music to murder — has only been out for a few hours, but listeners have already gathered to vote for some songs as their fan favorites. There’s the project’s final song, “Somebody Save Me,” featuring Jelly Roll, as well as previously released singles “Tobey,” featuring Big Sean and BabyTron, and “Houdini,” but the most popular track seems to be the emotional “Temporary.”

Featuring old recordings of Em’s daughter Hailie Jade, now 28, the hip-hop titan gives his relatives something to remember after his death. “I wrote you guys this song/ To help you cope with life now that I’m gone… How do I start? I just want to say take care of Alaina, Stevie and Uncle Nate/ And, honey, be strong,” he raps, referring to his two adopted children, 31-year-old Alaina and 22-year-old Stevie, as well as his half-brother Nathan.

Suffice it to say, fans are pretty much in tears. “Listening to ‘Temporary’ and ‘Somebody Save Me’ after 45 minutes of laughing and cheering,” wrote one listener on X, sharing a GIF of Matthew McConaughey sobbing in Interstellar.
