42-year-old woman killed in collision with semi-trailer in Concord

JACKSON COUNTY, MI — A collision between a pickup truck and a semi-trailer left one person dead and another hospitalized Friday afternoon, police said.

Officers with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the two-vehicle crash at approximately 12:23 p.m. on July 12 at the intersection of M-60 and Main Street in Concord.

A 65-year-old Sterling Heights man was driving a semi-truck eastbound on M-60 when he collided with a northbound Chevrolet van driven by a 42-year-old Concord Township woman, police said. Evidence at the scene suggests the semi-truck driver attempted an evasive maneuver to avoid the crash, police said.

The woman, who was the only occupant of the van, suffered fatal injuries in the crash, police said. The driver of the semi-truck suffered minor injuries and was treated at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital.

Police believe that neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in the crash. The accident remains under investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Accident Reconstruction Team.

Officers were assisted at the scene by the Jackson Community Ambulance and Concord Township Fire Department, who played a critical role in responding to this incident, police said.
