New deputy headteacher appointed at Parker School in Greenwich

Dr. Toni Jones, Superintendent of Greenwich Public Schools, announced the appointment of David Cheris as Assistant Principal of Parkway School.

Cheris will assist Principal Mary Grandville in supporting the entire Parkway community, assisting in the development and achievement of school goals and objectives, and advocating for the interests of all students.

He replaces Matthew Cerruto, who was named assistant principal of Western Middle School at the end of the school year.

“Mr. David Cheris brings a wealth of experience as an educator that impressed the search committee,” Jones said. “He is a dedicated, creative and passionate leader who will guide students, staff and families through their academic and social experiences at Parkway School.”

Cheris has served as a school administrator and teacher for the past 16 years. Most recently, he served as the Special Programs Coordinator (K-5) for Watertown Public Schools since 2023, where he oversaw a team of special education teachers, social workers, and support staff.

“Greenwich has an excellent reputation as a welcoming community and I am thrilled to be welcomed as a member of the Parkway School family,” said Cheris.

Cheris holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theater Arts from the University at Albany – State University of New York, a Master of Arts in Child and Special Education from Fordham University, and a Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership and a Sixth Year Certificate in Educational Leadership from Quinnipiac University.
