A Murfreesboro man was shot in his garage. His case remains unsolved.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) – Nine months have passed since Christopher Jones-McClean was gunned down in his garage last October.

This weekend, family and friends will gather at Shelbyville Central High School to celebrate his life on Saturday before his 27th birthday on Monday.

Kimberly Thompson, McClean’s mother, chose the high school as the site for the memorial service.

“Chris went to school here and I thought it would be the best place for his family and friends to come together,” she said.

His murder occurred at his Murfreesboro home on Cason Lane. The suspected killers are still at large, although surveillance video has been released showing two suspects and images of a maroon or red four-door sedan believed to be the getaway car.

“You experience this anger. You experience sadness because you miss him and fear because you don’t know what to do,” Thompson said. “A lot of times you’re staring into space.”

Both the police and McClean’s family describe him as an honorable man. Robbery is suspected as the motive. Thompson remains hopeful that the case will be solved.

“Mainly because I want justice, and secondly, I don’t want this to happen to anyone else,” she said.

Friends and family will honor McClean’s life with a balloon release this Saturday at 6 p.m. Thompson remembered her son’s nickname.

“His friends called him Kofi. I always called him Chris,” she said.

“Every year on his birthday I would call him and sing to him. It was a tradition in our family,” Thompson said. “I still want to do it. But now I can’t. It’s going to be hard.”

Thompson’s home is filled with memories of her son.

“These are gifts that people have given me since he died. This plaque is from friends and this was a Christmas present from his aunt,” she said.

Even though time has passed, Thompson is still looking for answers.

“If I had a million dollars, I would offer that much to find out who killed my son,” she said.

Anyone with information about McClean’s murder is asked to call Rutherford County Crime Stoppers at 615-893-STOP.

The family is asking people to dress in white and bring white balloons to McClean’s celebration of life at Shelbyville Central High School on Saturday.

She is over 80 and almost blind. Woman from Franklin continues to crochet for those in need

“Here’s a great story that proves that everyone has something to give, regardless of age OR personal challenges. Our Austin Pollack introduces us to Ms. Sylvia Mooney. At 80 years old, she is not sitting still. Instead, she is using her skills to create compassion for others… one stitch at a time. Her crochet work goes to nonprofits to help our homeless neighbors. You might be surprised to know that she manages to do all of this while battling a serious health issue. Bravo Sylvia!”
