Senator Fetterman drove too fast in front of police in Maryland: report

Fetterman and his wife Giselle were in a Chevrolet Tahoe when it struck a Chevrolet Impala on Interstate 70 near Interstate 68 in Hagerstown. Officials previously said.

Both Fettermans and the driver of the Impala were taken to a hospital, according to the MSP accident report. The senator’s office said he was treated for a shoulder contusion and released.

In the body camera footage, a police officer can be heard repeating a witness’s statement: “He was flying and she tried to hit her and he just ran over her.”

In the crash reportFetterman was accused of “traveling at a high rate of speed, well above the posted speed limit,” before passing the witness and ramming the Impala.

According to MSP, no citations were issued at the scene of the accident.

“This was an unfortunate accident on Sunday, and I am relieved and grateful that there were no serious injuries,” the senator told the Washington Post at the time of the crash.

“I’ve been driving for nearly 40 years and have gotten a few speeding tickets. When I’ve driven too fast, I’ve been held accountable. I need to do better and slow down – and I will.”
