E-WIN Flash XL Series Gaming Chair | Review

The following “E-WIN Flash XL Gaming Chair” was provided by the manufacturer for testing purposes. You can also use the following promotion to get 20% off your order at E-WIN: “XboxEra”

I can’t stress enough how important posture is, not just for my fellow gamers, but for anyone who spends hours in front of a screen. f.lux has saved the eyesight of many who work nights, and a good chair will stop your back from becoming a stepladder. I have this problem all the time when I play, as I like to bend over like nobody’s business. And for the past two weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of trying out E-WIN’s Flash XL Gaming Chair, which the company let me choose after they contacted us.

All my chairs up to that point were on the small side, but E-WIN’s XL offerings made me curious. No, I’m not particularly tall (at least not yet), but trying out a larger chair intrigued me so much that I just had to try it. What I finally got in the mail was a very comfortable gaming chair that I even fell asleep in. By accident, of course.

The Flash XL chair that was delivered to my humble abode was quite bulky and wide, weighing about 30 kilograms (my condolences to the FedEx guy, I know your pain). After bringing it upstairs and forcing the box open, it was time to put the thing together. The package itself is well protected and stuffed with plenty of foam—and according to the label on the box, it was dropped a total of “eight times” before being shipped to me, as a sign of trust. To their credit, everything in the box was fine. A large booklet contains step-by-step instructions on how to assemble the chair, as well as a much of boxes.

No tools? No problem, the kit includes everything you need to assemble the Flash XL. You’ll need quite a bit of space to avoid losing anything (like me), but otherwise the chair comes together in a jiffy. Well, mostly anyway – there was one step that didn’t apply to my chair and I spent a good minute looking for the red thing I had to remove. Other than that, it was all just a few screws to screw in, hinges to snap into place, and magnets. In fact, what I like about this chair is how easy it is to snap something back in place if it falls off, like the shoulder pads and armrests. The downside is that they can come off easily at first, but I eventually taught myself not to yank on the armrests.

With the chair assembled and ready to use, the final two pieces of the puzzle came in the form of two memory foam pillows that come with this chair. The headrest attaches to the top of the chair with a magnet, while the other supports your back. These two pillows come in handy as they make sitting in this chair really comfortable while gaming. The Flash XL can be reclined quite far, almost to the point of exhaustion, as I fell asleep watching a friend play Destiny 2 (he’s very good at that). The pillows were especially helpful with this as my neck felt great on the magnetic pillow when I woke up. Even better, the construction of the chair feels good and I never felt like a screw or any other component was going to fall on my head during assembly.

Additionally, this gaming chair offers plenty of space and is ideal for tall and heavy people. I’m about 170cm tall and my friends are about 185cm tall – each of them beamed nothing but positivity in my direction as they showed off the E-WIN seat. Even my mother, who is a good 15cm shorter, had nothing but praise – and when you have my mother’s approval, you usually have mine too.

My battlestation is amazed by this chair.

The downside to this chair is that I feel a little unsteady when working on my PC. I used to have a Knol office chair and loved that one because it adjusted to my back and posture. The Flash XL is a little stiffer and I sometimes had to lean forward a little to avoid the headrest. In an upright position, the chair works best without the included cushions, but when you lean back to start gaming, you’re back in the comfort zone. However, I’ve gotten used to it over the last two weeks and the Flash XL has become my preferred chair at the desk thanks to the comfortable bottom. And after adjusting the height of my keyboard a little, I’m back to typing like normal.

The E-WIN Flash XL chair is worth the money, especially if you have a large screen and plan on gaming for hours. The cushions make for a really comfortable seat and the seat is designed for tall and burly people – but even those under 5’7″ will have no problem sitting comfortably in this seat. The company’s customer service is fantastic and they were quick to respond when I contacted them about a part I felt I was missing. E-WIN was happy to offer to send me the part immediately, but I realized my faux pas and let them know that was not necessary. I guess organized chaos doesn’t get you far in life.

You can buy the E-WIN Flash XL series and all of their gaming chairs directly from the company’s website. The Flash XL comes in several variants and there are also different series of chairs overall. The model I specifically tested was this unit and with the promo code “XboxEra” you can get 20% off any order including the gaming desks. Free shipping is available throughout the United States except Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Work on that posture and Continue to play.
