ENGLAND’S last great European Championship team came in 1996, when the country hosted the competition here.
Back then, players like Paul Gascoigne, Tony Adams, Alan Shearer, Teddy Sheringham and others reached the semi-finals.
And despite our brave effort against the Germans, it was not to be, as we succumbed to what was once our greatest fear… the penalty shootout.
Many of these stars have since had children and their sons and daughters are now long grown up.
From a singer-songwriter who dates a rugby star and lives in Paris to the reality TV star who won Love Island, here’s what the sons and daughters of the 1996 Euro team are up to today.
Bianca Gascoigne
Bianca, now 37, won “Love Island” in 2006 together with Calum Best.
In an unforgettable gladiator celebrity special, she competed against her glamour colleague Danielle Lloyd.
The reality TV darling has also auditioned for X Factor and starred in Celebrity Big Brother.
Last year, Bianca became mother to a son, Blake, with her partner Arron Wright.
Hollie Shearer
The gorgeous Hollie Shearer is the daughter of English football legend and Match of the Day expert Alan Shearer.
She is a singer and songwriter whose single “Leave Right Now” has received over 1.4 million listens on Spotify.
She is dating rugby star Joe Marchant and they live together in Paris.
Hollie, 29, has a huge following on Instagram who are amazed by her incredible lifestyle.
Sophie Walker
With two pin-up parents, former Spurs goalkeeper Ian Walker and model Suzi Walker, Sophie was always destined to be blessed with good looks.
She followed in her mother’s footsteps and took the path of beauty.
Sophie took part in the Miss London pageant around 2017, but it is not known what place she took.
In the past, she has also spoken about the difficulties of growing up with a famous father.
Chelsea Pearce
Chelsea, the daughter of Stuart Pearce, represented her country – just like her father.
But she chose the path of equestrian sport – and was extremely successful there.
She won a silver medal in eventing at the European Pony Championships.
Chelsea regularly takes part in competitions around the globe, most recently in Dubai.
Chop
Tom chose the most difficult path that the offspring of a footballer can choose: he wanted to become a footballer.
For the winger, who at 32 may be past his prime, the record was mixed.
He was signed by Stoke for £10 million in 2018 and played for them in the Premier League.
Today he is a star in the championship with Watford.
Daniel Seaman
Father David was skilled and so it is no surprise that Dan Seaman is a professional golfer.
He most recently appeared at the 2018 Golfbreaks.com PGA Fourball North event.
He now prefers coaching and has returned to his job at the Leeds Golf Centre.
“Dan is a club fitting specialist, which makes him as safe a person for you as his father (David Seaman),” he announced when he joined the team in 2012.
Mia Southgate
The brilliant Mia, daughter of current England coach Gareth, showed that athleticism runs in the family.
She ran this year’s London Marathon in April and raised over £8,000 for Bowel Cancer UK.
She works for Mint Velvet, where she is part of the social media team.
She lives in London and has a separate Instagram page where she shows her fashionista side.
Charlie Sheringham
Charlie, now 36, followed his father Teddy’s example and became a footballer.
He is without a club after last playing for amateur club Dartford from 2022 to 2024.
It’s been a long time since his youth career, when he played for Millwall, Tottenham and Ipswich Town.
According to LinkedIn, he works as the head of football at Forest School.
The tattoos of English football stars
The English team is known for their love of body art and many players are covered in tattoos.
