PACIFIC PALISADES, CALIFORNIA — LA28 officials on Friday announced more than a dozen new host sites for the 2028 Summer Olympics, including the selection of Riviera Country Club for golf.

The other venues are in Los Angeles, Carson and Long Beach.

“The 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games will reflect all that the Los Angeles region has to offer, and with the host city allocation, we are very proud to bring the Games to many of our vibrant and diverse communities,” said Janet Evans, Chief Athlete Officer of LA28.

The Galen Center, known as the USC Sports Center during the games, hosts badminton matches. The indoor arena is home to USC’s basketball and volleyball teams.

The LA Convention Center hosts five sports: fencing, judo, tennis, taekwondo and wrestling.

There will be weightlifting at the Peacock Theater at LA Live.

The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades is the venue for the golf tournaments. The golf course is considered one of the best in the world and is also the host of LA’s annual PGA Tour event. It has also hosted the US Open, the PGA Championship, the US Amateur, the US Senior Open and the NCAA Championships.

At Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, home of the LA Galaxy, cycling races are held at the Velodrome, hockey on the fields adjacent to the stadium, rugby sevens at the stadium and tennis at the tennis center.

The Velodrome is an official U.S. Olympic training venue and the home track of USA Cycling. Before its renovation, the facility was used as a velodrome during the 1984 Games.

The fields currently used by the Galaxy for training will be converted into a temporary hockey arena.

The Tennis Center houses the US Tennis Association’s high-performance training center.

The stadium regularly hosts the World Rugby Sevens Series.

In Long Beach, canoe racing and rowing competitions are held at Marine Stadium. These events were originally scheduled to take place at Lake Perris in Riverside County.

Belmont Shore will be a sailing event.

Swimming marathons and triathlons take place on the Alamitos Beach boardwalk.

Water polo tournaments will be held at a temporary aquatic center on the grounds of the Long Beach Convention Center. The venue was previously announced as a synchronized swimming venue.

Archery, fencing, sailing and volleyball had already been held in Long Beach at the 1983 Games; at the 1932 Games, Marine Stadium hosted the rowing events.

The Games will not use existing corporate or charity names for the venues, but will use names specific to the Olympic Games.

Officials said additional venues in LA and elsewhere will be announced in the coming months, including for new sports added since the original bid.

LA28 had previously proposed several venue assignments that would move some competitions outside of LA city limits, requiring written approval from city leaders. The LA City Council is currently reviewing this proposal.
