CRC Brakleen 175 NASCAR Truck Series race at Pocono under red flag due to rain

The rain just wouldn’t stop. The NASCAR Truck Series race at Pocono Raceway was postponed due to rain due to a red flag. There were scattered showers throughout the morning and early afternoon. They returned with nine laps to go in the race.

While everyone was hoping that the NASCAR Truck Series would be spared from further rain showers, the heavens opened again. Another rainy weekend.

Qualifying was cancelled earlier today, putting Christian Eckes on pole to start this race, but it was Corey Heim who dominated the race. This race would have previously lasted over one lap if it had been the usual 60 laps instead of 70.

UPDATE: Good news, NASCAR was able to restart the race. There were eight laps left to go. Then NASCAR tried to restart the race and ran two caution laps. At first they didn’t want to count those, but after careful consideration they decided to count them.

Finally, the race was restarted with six laps to go. NASCAR was patient and waited to see if the track would dry enough. The race ended under a green light.

Corey Heim dominates the NASCAR Truck Series in Pocono

The first two stages of this race were green. In the final 40-lap stage, Rajah Caruth showed a caution flag. He lost his composure in a corner and spun. However, he managed to avoid hitting the wall and finished in 10th place.

Corey Heim was on his way to victory when rain started to fall with eight laps to go and stopped the race. The stoppage gave Grant Enfinger hope that he might be able to mount a charge and beat Heim.

After NASCAR decided not to count two caution laps following a botched restart, those laps were canceled. The race was restarted with six laps to go. Despite their best efforts, Enfinger and Eckes had no chance of defeating Heim.

Corey Heim raced across the finish line, NASCAR finished the race under the green light, and it was the longest Truck Series race ever at Pocono Raceway. We didn’t even have overtime.
